Here you'll visit the Fireman's Memorial to learn of the heroic men and women who searched tirelessly through the remains of the buildings for survivors. At the Survivor Tree you'll see one of the most touching reminders of that day - a pear tree that miraculously survived the collapse of the Twin Towers and was nursed back to health by locals, to become a symbol of their own survival and rejuvenation.
At every step of the tour, except in the One World Observatory, your local guide will be on hand to add background and context. They will tell you the stories of tragedy, but also stories of heroism and community cohesion that came from the terrible event. It's not an easy tour to give or to take, but ultimately it's a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the human soul.
You'll finish the day with a pre-reserved entrance into the One World Observatory, meaning your entrance is guaranteed, regardless of how large the crowds are. Hop in a "Sky Pod" and hold on tight; these glass elevators zip from the ground to the 102nd floor in just 43 seconds. From there, you have 360-degree views all around lower Manhattan and beyond.
This tour was fantastic and I found it to be one of the more important tours I've taken recently. The guide was extremely knowledgable having lived through 9/11 personally. Her authenticity in telling her story was very moving. She was very thorough in telling us about the symbolism of each place in and around the memorial- the thought that was put into the reconstruction. It was really good and the view from the top of One World Observatory is out of this world!
Great tour. It was very informative. The information was presented with pride and reverence by Tauren.
