Your tour starts when you meet your guide and group of fellow visitors at Battery Park. After discovering more about famous buildings such as Castle Clinton and the Pier A Harbor House, you'll hop onto a ferry with your all-inclusive tickets and enjoy a scenic cruise over to Liberty Island.

Once on the island, prepare to become immersed in the story of America's most iconic statue. You might be surprised to learn that initially the Statue of Liberty was a tough sell to New Yorkers - in fact, the project was almost derailed numerous times due to lack of funding.

As you make your way towards the statue base grounds, you'll take in beautiful views of New York Harbor before standing in awe beneath Lady Liberty herself (the perfect spot for a photo or two!)

An exciting addition to Liberty Island, the brand new state-of-the-art Statue of Liberty Museum officially opened to the public in May 2019. Inside, you'll have time to discover amazing artifacts from the planning and building process and to learn why many of the things you think you know about the statue (including why it was built) are not what you've been led to believe!

Your guided tour ends on Liberty Island, but you can hop a ferry to Ellis Island for no extra charge and see the wonderful Immigration Museum, or just head back to Battery Park. Either way, your guide will give you directions and recommendations for how to spend the rest of your vacation.

In just three hours you'll have seen America's most iconic statue, delved into its fascinating story with your expert guide, and taken a few pictures from the grounds of Lady Liberty to prove it! Who says the early bird always gets the worm?

Pedro was very nice and helpful to get us checked in. Customer Service was great in getting us rescheduled after we got lost and missed the morning tour on which we were originally scheduled. Most of all, Eloise was AWESOME!!! Just cannot say enough good things about her. Very knowledgeable, sweet, and so helpful, not only with the tour itself but with other things to help us on our trip. She is absolutely amazing and we're so happy we had her to ourselves due to a couple of no-shows for the tour. Literally could not have asked for any more on the tour. It was fantastic!

FAQ

Are visits to the Statue of Liberty ever canceled due to weather?
Our Statue of Liberty tours run rain or shine. The one exception is however that if the coastguard stops water traffic in New York Harbor due to inclement weather, access to the statue is not possible.
Are the hospitals on Ellis Island included on this tour?
No, The old hospitals are not open to the public and have to be booked specially if you want to visit them.
Does this tour include access to the Statue Crown?
No. Unfortunately, tickets for the Statue of Liberty Crown are extremely limited, at only 365 per day, and sell out months in advance. Walks does not provide any tours that include the Statue of Liberty Crown.
What can I bring with me on my Statue of Liberty tour?
Guests will need to pass through airport-style security to enter the Statue of Liberty. Certain items are not permitted inside the Statue and such items will be confiscated and will not be returned. These items include all weapons; scissors, sharp items and tools; face masks or any items designed to conceal the identity of the wearer. Large packages, suitcases and backpacks will also not be allowed on the ferry to Liberty Island. Please be aware that after the ferry, upon arrival at Liberty Island, there is another level of security. If you are carrying a backpack or large bag at this point, you are required to put your bag/s into a locker which cost 0.25 cents and only take quarters (you will not be able to use a dime and a nickle for example). Please be sure to have a quarter in your change for your locker. Other items not allowed inside at this point include food and drink, strollers, tripods, pocket-knives, laptops and tablet keyboards. Visitors are allowed to bring water for drinking inside, once it is in a clear container.
I have mobility issues/use a wheelchair, can I take the Statue of Liberty tour?
Yes! However please note that if your tour includes the Statue Pedestal (which has elevator access) the only part you will NOT be able to visit is a small platform at the very top of the Statue Pedestal.
