After the Catacombs close for the evening we enter for a special, peaceful exploration of this ancient Christian city of the dead. You'll also visit the Capuchin Crypt, decorated with the remains of some 4,000 monks.
As visitors emerge from underground and disperse for the evening, a peaceful atmosphere settles over Rome's Catacombs. It's then - as the doors officially close to the public - that you and your small group will step inside for a VIP visit like no other...
Because we have exclusive access after hours, your small group will explore the vast system of tunnels all by yourselves - with the help of an expert Catacombs guide. And as you go deeper into the ground, you'll learn all about the unusual artifacts and decorations that adorn the area.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions - this is as intimate as it gets!

Descending into this city of the dead, you'll hear stories of how the first Christians dug these tunnels as a way to observe their (at the time) unique death rights outside the limits of the old city. Unfortunately, they didn't quite escape the long arm of the tax collectors! Traveling in a small group of 18 people through the Catacombs, the tunnels will be restored to the calm and quiet that reigned over them thousands of years ago, when they were still used as active burial grounds.
A short, comfortable drive in your private air-conditioned transport is just the time you need to reflect on your Catacombs experience, before it's on to an altogether more eye-opening experience of Roman burial customs.
Not for the faint of heart, The Capuchin Crypt aka The Bone Chapel is (likely!) unlike anything you've ever experienced. Here, an order of monks has festooned a burial-chamber-cum-chapel with the mummified remains of 4,000 of their brothers.
It's eye-opening, unsettling, and more than a little creepy to the outside observer but as your expert guide will explain - this macabre site connects intimately to the Capuchin Order's surprisingly uplifting views of life and death!
Silver tours have small groups & skip the line access, guaranteed.
Visit the Capuchin Crypt and Ancient Roman 'City of the Dead', then walk along the Appian Way and see the Roman Aqueducts on this fascinating tour of Rome's Catacombs.
